b'A Few For the past few years, youve joined Spirit of Nevadas host, Sam, on adven-tures throughout the State of Nevada. There have been hundreds of location visits, interviews with interesting individuals, attendance at local events and unexpected discoveries. In taking the time to explore this great State, weve managed to shine a light on many of Nevadas hidden gems. While there are so many more to find, lets revisit some of Sams favorite places.Boulder City, NV of SamsBoulder City has been the subject of a few Spirit of Nevada episodes, most recently in a two-part series in December 2020. Boulder City is the only incorporated city in Nevada without gaming and home of the States num-ber one tourist attraction, Hoover Dam. Its also home to some of the best antique and boutique shops in the areaSam recommends a visit to Goat Feathers Emporium, Shermans House of Antiques, Boulder City Antique Market & Auction House and Bella Marketplace when you visit. In addition to the shopping, the Nevada Southern Railway excursion train Favoriteat the Nevada State Railroad Museum is a must!Sam says, I love Boulder City for so many reasons, but one of my favorite memories was when I rode a rail bike for 4 miles through the Nevada des-ert, the River Mountains and the Eldorado Valley. Then after we finishedthe bike ride, I drove everyone in a 1963 historic locomotive train back to the station.Great Basin National ParkBaker, NVThings Great Basin National Park is an American national park located in White Pine County in east-central Nevada, near the Utah border. It features the 13,063-foot summit of Wheeler Peak and sage-covered foothills. Great Basin National Park is a place to sample the stunning diversity of the larger Great Basin region. The park was featured on an episode in July 2021.Sam says, We took hiking to a new level at this park. We hiked at an elevation of 11,000 feet for several miles with our camera gear so we could capture video of the oldest living organism on the planetBristlecone Pine Tree. We also went on a private tour though the Lehman Caves. This was my first time ever being in a cave! I highly recommend this tour for anyone who visits the Great Basin National Park.Eureka, NVIn November 2020, Sam proved that shes not afraid of ghosts, when she spent the night at a haunted hotel in Eureka. The historic mining town is home to the Eureka Opera House, (built in 1880 and restored in 1993), Raines Market and Wildlife Museum (built 1887), the Jackson House Hotel (built 1877) and the Eureka Sentinel Museum (housed in the 1879 Eureka Sentinel Newspaper Building). It is also reportedly quite haunted, and the town hosts ghost hunts for several months throughout the year. Sam says, We went ghost hunting in the underground tunnels and had multiple paranormal encounters. We heard several voices through the ghost box and then a voice came through warning me that danger was ahead. Then, suddenly a door closed right in front of David, and we captured all of it on camera. 9'
