b'B R ATING THEIs That Electric CarL EECReally Better?OF THE 12TH ANNUALSPIRIT OF NEVADA SCHOLARSHIP CONTESTFor the past 12 years, the Richard Harris Law Firm has hosted the Spirit of Nevada scholarship contest, recognizing many talented teens in Nevada.Over the years, high school students have been invited to display their creativity on topics, such as Treasures of the Silver State and Home Means Nevada. The 2021 theme, Nevada Past and Present, challenged students to study the history of Nevada and present-day treasures, and then creatively present stories and art in ways for viewers or readers to discover what it means to be Battle Born. Last years competition saw nearly 40 submissions across four categories, including written word, artwork, video, and music. We celebrated the winners of our scholarship contest and were excited to visit with them, present the awards and recognize their great accomplishments at a reception at our law office.The 2021 Spirit of Nevada scholarship contest winners were:Short Story/Poem: Taylor Spurk, Cimarron Memorial High SchoolArtwork: Sharon Lee, Las Vegas Academy of the Performing ArtsVideo: Dax Quick, Advanced Technologies AcademyMusic: Avery Olson, Centennial High SchoolEach winner was awarded a $1,000 scholarship, myself, their new perspectives on the past and present and $500 was donated to the school of each of our great State are truly something to celebrate.
