Richard Harris is the founder and managing partner of Richard Harris Law Firm.
A resident of Las Vegas for more than 40 years, Rick graduated from Las Vegas Western High School before earning a degree cum laude in communications from Brigham Young University. He attended the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, California, on an academic scholarship, where he was a Best Oral Advocate finalist and member of the Moot Court Honors Board. A strong academic record and high class ranking led Rick to be selected as a law clerk intern to the Chief Justice of the Nevada Supreme Court.
After graduating from law school in 1980, Rick took two bar exams during the same week, California and Nevada, passing them both—an accomplishment unmatched by anyone since. He had an overall score of 95% on the Nevada bar exam. Rick first practiced with criminal defense attorney and current Las Vegas mayor, Oscar Goodman. In 1982, Rick founded Richard Harris Law Firm, which has become one of the premier personal injury firms in the state.
As a trial lawyer and skilled negotiator, Rick has resolved several of the largest personal injury cases in Nevada, earning him membership in the prestigious Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers, Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, Outstanding Lawyers of America, and The Verdict Club as a Platinum Member.
Rick served on the Board of Governors of the Nevada Trial Lawyers Association and has been a lobbyist for injury victims' rights in the Nevada Legislature. He is committed to legal education as an adjunct professor of law at the University of Nevada Las Vegas Boyd School of Law. Rick is the Patron of the Nevada Trial Lawyers Association Series on Continuing Legal Education which is named in his honor. He lectures often and is the author of several legal articles and publications. Rick is a frequently requested arbitrator and mediator and is an LL.M candidate (2009) in Dispute Resolution from Pepperdine University School of Law's famed Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution, which has been ranked the number one program in the country for four consecutive years.
Highly regarded by his clients and peers, Rick's representation and consultation are regularly requested in the areas of personal injury and wrongful death litigation, negotiation, arbitration, mediation, law practice management, and marketing.
